Solution A:  Stop Multi-User Access on All WorkStations-

Your server computer must have only one hosting, so make sure that host “Multi-User Access” on your workStation must be turned off. To do or check it follow the below-written steps;

  • Start QuickBooks in your system
  • Go to the “Start” menu and select “Utilities”
  • From the “Utilities” list, search for the “Stop Multi-User Acess” and choose it.

Step 1

  • Repeat the process on other workstations.

Step 2

Now you have the IP address and server name, move to step 2 to edit the Windows host file.

  • Close the QuickBooks and open “My Computer” and go to the C: drive

C:\system32\drivers\etc

C:\system64\drivers\etc

  • In the host file there’s a space to fill up the “Workstation IP address” and “Computer name” or vice-versa, fill it up with the info you get from step 1.

  • Save the host file, after completing the whole steps from steps 1 and 2 open the QuickBooks in multi-user mode.

 Note- Host files handle static IP addresses. If the network handles dynamic IP addresses then it may trouble to perform the solution.  Windows server must be configured to maintain the same IP address for the network all the time in the HOSTS file if the server is rebooted or receive a different IP address.

Condition 04: The Company File is on the Linux Server

  • Initiate Linux database Server Manager on your server.
  • Configure the  Linux database Server Manager and the directory in the Initord.conf file.

  • Close QuickBooks on all the computers connected to the server.
  • Go to “start Menu Window” and search for “File Explorer” and open it.
  • Go to the “My PC” and open the C: Drive 
  • Search for C:\system32\etc\hosts
  • Select hosts file and right-click on it to open the file in Notepad
  • At the end of the Host file, type the IP address and the Linux Server name by maintaining a gap with “Tab Key” instead of “Spacebar”.
  • Select the FIle, save the host file in it, and close the Notepad.  

Note- while working on the Linux server, keep in mind that the Linux OS file is case sensitive, always pays attention while adding the case.
